A continuous stirred tank reactor for enzymatic production of hydrogen peroxide was simulated and optimized using a strong method, which combines computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and response surface methodology (RSM). Dissolved oxygen was used for supplying oxygen demand. Flow behavior was studied and simulation results indicated a good mixing pattern in the tank causing a proper distribution of particles throughout the reactor. The optimal conditions were found as 20.57l/min pure water flow rate, 0.64gmol/min glucose molar rate and 375rpm impeller speed. Obtained results were validated experimentally, and there was a good level of agreement between experimental and CFD-RSM results. This study showed that the enzymatic production of hydrogen peroxide is a safe and inexpensive method. In addition, it was proved that CFD-RSM combined method is a dependable technique for simulation, prediction and optimization of bio-chemical processes.
