<P>In this study, choline carboxylate ionic liquids were explored as solvents to enhance the hydrolysis of cellulose by enzymes. We found that [Cho][Pn] was the most effective IL, enhancing the activity of the enzyme and thus the production of glucose. Interestingly in [Cho][Pn] a significant portion of glucose was subsequently converted to fructose.</P>
